What is a Life Doula?
A mentor or guide who assists through life’s challenges and transitions
What is a Doula?
The word ‘doula’ comes from ancient Greek meaning, ‘a woman who serves’.
Today it refers to someone who is professionally trained to provide emotional, practical, physical and informational support.

What is a Life Doula?
An individual with the professional and personal skills and experiences to support all individuals as they transition through life’s ups and downs.
The more I shared my passion for EOL ‘preparedness’ with people, the more I realized that what want to offer is so much more than end of life preparedness. It is indeed that and so much more!
As I spoke to people about my passion for ‘being prepared’ for the inevitable, a fairly typical response was “I’m too young…it’s far too soon…there’s no need.. I don’t want to talk about death…or I’m not ready to prepare for the end of my life”. The truth is in my view, we spend our entire lives in transition, change and flux of one form or another. All is part of the weave of who we are, and who we can become.
There are so many questions in life…I’ve asked those questions myself ..full disclosure …I still ask questions, those and many more…I will always be asking and seeking and learning.
Frankly, I can now view the years of illness as a gift (an area of my life that I address in my ‘About’ section). In saying that I in no way wish to diminish the pain , chaos and suffering caused by such traumatic events. It is a hard and often solitary journey. It was for sure one of the most painful struggles of my life but I prevailed - not just surviving but actually thriving in the end. Becoming stronger and more resilient than ever as a result. Between that experience and various other aspects of my personal and professional journeys, I have learned many lessons and it is those lessons combined with some concrete practical hands on education and a great deal of introspection, that have made me the person I am today.
As your ‘Life doula’ (…coach…spiritual guide…support person - there are many possibilities available to us), I will work with you on all aspects of life that are calling for your attention regardless of the cause. I won’t always have the answers but I will always have your back just as those who supported me had mine. We are not designed to walk this life path alone (we ‘walk each other home’ as Ram Dass said.) I’ve found it to be way less painful, more fun and satisfying when it becomes a shared journey.
Are we a fit for each other? Let’s have a conversation and explore the possibilities.
There’s Light on the other side of challenge.
I found it and you can also.

“In the 15 years I’ve known Catherine, I have always
admired her strength and ability to listen. It’s rare to meet someone who asks questions because they’re truly interested in hearing the answer. The many challenging transitions Catherine has experienced in her own life make her uniquely suited to help others navigate change both in life and at end-of-life. I have been blessed to have her by my side when making some big life decisions. She has helped me transition smoothly and I will call on her again.”
