The ‘Why?’ Of The Poem
I was in a communications class and it was not going well! There was discontent and friction between some of the attendees which unfortunately permeated the energy for all in attendance. It was not an ideal situation for meditation, which happened to be an integral part of the course - but meditate we did albeit reluctantly and, at the beginning somewhat unsuccessfully…’Meditate then write’ was the instruction…I tried and tried but could not quiet my mind. For the first few efforts I simply wrote the same word over and over again. Then I managed the same sentence over and over again. ‘Just keep your pen moving’ was the direction we received…Finally, after more than an hour of this seemingly painful process, I felt something shift inside me and it was as though the pen started moving without me! I arrived at a place of surrendering into the process and it was from that place that my ‘voice’ landed on the page. The entire class took on a new and refreshed meaning for me after that.
